APRIL IS POETRY MONTH ☺
Write an “ode” poem addressed to someone or something. Must be at least 6-8 lines.
An ode is a poem that is about one specific thing that you think is truly amazing and praiseworthy. This type of poem can be centered upon a person, an object, or something abstract like a feeling or an idea.
**Originated in Ancient Greece
-Does not have to rhyme
-Use these guidelines when working on your odes:
-Pick an ordinary place or thing.
-Give your subject praise or thanks. (Oh, _____________!)
-Speak directly to the object.
-Use adjectives to describe it.
-Use verbs to bring that object to life. (Personification)
-Use repeated lines.
-Use figurative language (similes, metaphors, etc.)
